Happy Holloween to You and Me!

Kitchen, pot holders,
Basic hand wipers, pretty,
Chairs, meals, family.
Peanut butter sandwich,
Blueberry muffins, engage,
Dried tofu, bok choy.
Hot plain rice, pancake,
Gas stoves, JOY dishwasher,
Love cold hot water.
Calendar, peony,
October, red autumn sun,
Problems, none is mine.

Haiku on Mink both White and Black (Mini Fiction Week 30)

It looks like weasel,
It has four legs and smooth fur,
Its movement is nimble.
Small bodies, grey hair,
Pointed face, sharp paws hang there,
Dangerous if dare.
small thin furry skin,
Detective eyes, far and near,
Weasel out mink, dear!
A mink is not boat,
It carries no logs or cars,
Cousin to weasel.

Wishing Well By Kate Schmitt

The mesh of the blanket tangles
and lumps of comforter,
two-toned flannel and bedspread
twist and slip.
I haven't slept in a week,
So I wear my brown hooded
sweatshirt with the hood-strings
pulled tightly around my face.
I picture a wishing well
with edges of greening minerals.
and coins dull with cold water,
I throw my wish in a copper arc.
After I've thrown it I lie
unconcerned, these things take time.
